Small Alley Cleanup Day! Saturday, March 2nd
Volunteers from ADDA's Board of Director's, ADDA's Design Committee, Aiken High School's Rotary InterAct Club, South Aiken High Students, and others came out to cleanup the Small Alley that runs from Park Avenue to The Alley.
ADDA recognized increased pedestrian traffic through this area with the successful openings of Betsy's 'Round the Corner, Whiskey Alley, and Tailgate Tavern and initiated a project to get the area SAFE and clean for Downtown Aiken's guests. The Alley proper revitalization was a pilot project for areas of Downtown Aiken that need attention to become vibrant public and commercial areas. ADDA and The City have been working together to continue these efforts in The Small Alley. The project was APPROVED at a second reading at City Council Monday, March 11th. Plans for the project include increased lighting for pedestrians at night, the addition of trash receptacles, benches, visual art and murals, interactive art, screening, and more! Stay tuned as progress continues!! Below are pictures from the cleanup day - ADDA is committed to sticking to its mission: to improve the economic vitality, enhance the beauty and preserve the historical inheritance of Downtown Aiken!
